ISLAMABAD, Oct 08 (APP): Across the world including Pakistan, the World Post Day would be observed tomorrow on Wednesday.
On this occasion, Pakistan Post has decided to organize various programs to highlight the importance of this day and the services of the institution. In addition to the flag hoisting ceremony at Rawalpindi GPO at 10 am, there will be an exhibition of stamps. Postmaster General Northern Punjab Muhammad Zaheer will be the chief guest.
All officers including Deputy Postmaster General Arshad Khan, Chief Postmaster Asma Noreen will participate. The decision to celebrate the Day was made on October 9, 1969 by the Universal Postal Congress at a meeting held in Tokyo, Japan. The purpose of celebrating the day is to create awareness about the role of this department in the daily lives of people as well as its role in global socio-economic development. It encourages the member states of the Universal Postal Union to organize their national postal activities to celebrate the event, including the introduction or promotion of new postal products and services.
