ISLAMABAD, Sep 16 (APP):The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has successfully wrapped up a seven-day anti-polio vaccination campaign, surpassing its initial goal and ensuring wider coverage across the Federal Capital.
In this regard, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, Irfan Nawaz Memon chaired a review meeting to assess the outcomes of the campaign.
He was informed that the set target was to vaccinate 461,125 children. However, the drive exceeded expectations, with 497,925 children vaccinated by the end of the week. This amounted to a coverage rate of 108%.
The campaign reached various segments of the population. A total of 56,493 children were vaccinated in schools, 21,252 visiting families, and 23,242 children in door to door campaign.
Alongside vaccinations, awareness efforts were made to inform people about the importance of polio prevention. Announcements were made in 207 mosques, and 409 families participated in awareness sessions.
Deputy Commissioner Irfan Memon congratulated the entire team for the successful campaign.
He acknowledged the efforts of polio workers, security personnel, and the administration.
Memon also thanked the citizens of Islamabad for their cooperation in ensuring the success of the campaign.
